Supply Chain Compliance

At Glowell, we believe great products should be made responsibly. We are committed to respecting human rights, protecting the environment and meeting all applicable legal requirements throughout our supply chain.

Our supply chain

Glowell designs and markets products sold through retail partners across the UK and Europe. Our products are manufactured by carefully selected production partners located in the UK and China. We maintain direct, long-term relationships with our manufacturers, and we know where our products are made.

Our commitments

We expect every supplier and manufacturing partner to meet our Supplier Code of Conduct. The code is based on the ETI Base Code, the ILO core conventions and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. It requires:

•         no forced, bonded or involuntary labour, and no human trafficking

•         no child labour

•         freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining

•         safe and hygienic working conditions

•         fair wages that meet at least legal minimums, and reasonable working hours

•         no discrimination, harassment or inhumane treatment

•         compliance with environmental laws, including responsible handling of chemicals and waste

•         zero tolerance of bribery and corruption

Due diligence and risk management

We take a risk-based approach to supply chain due diligence, in line with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our approach has four parts.

Risk analysis. We assess suppliers against country, sector and product risks when we onboard them, and review those assessments annually.

Supplier onboarding. New suppliers must sign our Supplier Code of Conduct and complete a compliance questionnaire before production begins.

Audits. Our manufacturing partners are independently audited against internationally recognised social compliance standards, such as amfori BSCI. We review every audit result and monitor conditions on an ongoing basis.

Remediation. Where an audit or report identifies an issue, we agree a time-bound corrective action plan with the supplier and track it to completion. Where serious issues are not resolved, we will end the relationship.

Product safety and regulatory compliance

All Glowell products comply with the regulations that apply in the markets where they are sold. Our household cleaning, laundry and dishwasher products comply with the EU and GB Detergents Regulation (EC) No 648/2004, REACH and CLP, including the specific child-safety packaging and labelling requirements for liquid laundry capsules. Our disinfectant products comply with the EU and GB Biocidal Products Regulations. Safety data sheets are available for all our products on request. Our products are cruelty-free and not tested on animals.

Environment and packaging

We work to reduce our environmental impact by using recyclable packaging, reducing plastic and consolidating shipments. We comply with UK packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the relevant packaging obligations in each EU market we sell into.

Raising a concern

Anyone, including workers in our supply chain, business partners and members of the public, can report a suspected human rights or environmental issue linked to our business. Concerns can be raised in confidence, and anonymously if preferred, by emailing compliance@glowellbrands.com. We will acknowledge every report within 5 working days and investigate it. We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
